1. Who we are
SnapPDF is an Android app published on Google Play by EazyLife Tech Solutions (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, we are the data fiduciary only for the limited technical data described in section 4. We never receive the contents of your documents.
2. What stays on your phone
SnapPDF makes PDFs on your device. There is no server doing the work, and the app works offline.
- Camera captures and photos you pick are read on your phone to build pages.
- Drafts are kept in the app’s private storage until you create the PDF or discard the draft.
- PDFs you create are saved on your phone in Downloads › snapPDF.
- Extract text (from version 2.1) recognises text on your phone with a model built into the app (Google ML Kit). Images and text are not sent anywhere.
- Passwords you type to lock or unlock a PDF are used only on your phone for that action. They are never stored or sent, so we can’t recover them.
- Your saved signature (from version 2.1) is kept only on your phone.
None of these are uploaded to us or to anyone else. When you share a PDF, it goes only to the app you choose (for example WhatsApp or Gmail), under that app’s own privacy policy.
Android backup (from version 2.1): if backup is on in your phone’s settings, Android includes SnapPDF’s settings, your SnapPDF ID and your saved signature in your phone’s backup to your own Google account, so they come back on a new phone. Android encrypts the backup and we can’t access it. PDFs and photos are never included. You can turn backup off in Android Settings › System › Backup.
Documents about other people: because your documents never reach us, we don’t process their contents. If you scan or share documents that contain other people’s personal data, you decide what happens to them and are responsible for having a lawful reason, and their consent where needed. See our terms.
3. Permissions
| Permission | Why | When it’s asked |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | To scan documents | When you first tap Scan. You can say no and still use photos. |
| Photos (Android Photo Picker) | To add the photos you choose | Never as a permission: you pick photos each time, and the app sees only those. |
| Internet | Usage statistics, crash reports and app fixes (sections 4 and 6) | Granted at install. Making PDFs doesn’t need it. |
| Advertising ID | Used by Google Analytics for Firebase to count users. Not used for ads. | Granted at install. You can reset or delete it in Android settings. |
4. What we collect and why
We collect a small amount of technical information to understand how the app is used and to fix problems. None of it includes your photos or the content of your PDFs.
| Data | Purpose | Processed by |
|---|---|---|
| App interactions: events such as “PDF created” or “pages added”, with counts and settings (for example page size). Automatic screen tracking is off. | Analytics: which features help, where people get stuck | Google Analytics for Firebase |
| Device and app identifiers: the Advertising ID, the Firebase app-instance and installation IDs, and installation IDs created by Crashlytics and Sentry | Analytics: counting users and sessions | Google Analytics for Firebase |
| Device details: model, Android version, language, app version, and a general region that Google derives from your IP address | Analytics and fixing device-specific bugs | Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry |
| Crash logs and diagnostics: what the app was doing when it crashed or errored; performance timings from a sample of sessions. They never contain the content of your documents, but an error message can occasionally include a file name; we use it only to fix the error, and it is deleted with the crash report. | Fixing crashes and slow screens | Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry (set not to attach personal information such as your name or email) |
| Update check: app version and a random device ID | Delivering bug fixes to the app | Stallion |
| SnapPDF ID: a random ID created on your phone, shown in the app as your Support ID from 2.1 | Matching crash reports, support requests and Pro status | EazyLife Tech Solutions |
| Purchase status: whether you have Pro, the purchase token and a RevenueCat customer ID from 2.1 | Unlocking Pro. Google Play handles payment; we never see your card or UPI details. | Google Play Billing, RevenueCat |
IP addresses: like any internet service, our providers receive your IP address when the app connects. Google uses it to derive a general region. We do not receive or keep IP addresses ourselves.
We keep the Data safety section of our Google Play listing consistent with this policy and update both together.
5. What we never collect
We never collect the content of your documents or photos, your contacts, your precise location, or anything from other apps, and we don’t ask for your name, email address or phone number. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use it only to reply. We do not sell data, show ads, or share data with advertisers or data brokers.
6. Who processes data
We use these service providers. They process data for us under their own terms and security practices:
- Google: Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics (Firebase privacy).
- Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.): error and performance monitoring (Sentry privacy).
- Stallion: over-the-air app fixes (Stallion privacy).
- RevenueCat, from version 2.1: Pro purchase status (RevenueCat privacy).
These providers may process data outside India. We may disclose the limited data we hold if the law requires it, for example to answer a valid request from a court or law enforcement, or to protect against fraud or misuse of SnapPDF.
7. How long we keep it
- Analytics events linked to your app-instance ID: 2 months. After that, Google keeps only aggregated reports that don’t identify anyone.
- Crash reports: 90 days in Firebase Crashlytics and 30 days in Sentry, then deleted.
- Firebase installation ID: kept by Firebase until it is deleted. To ask for deletion, contact us (section 11).
- Support emails: up to 24 months after the conversation ends, then deleted.
- Update checks: Stallion uses them only to deliver the update and states that it keeps no personal information about app users.
- Your files: only on your phone, until you delete them or uninstall the app.
Security
Data sent to our providers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Because your documents never leave your phone, there is no copy of them on any server to protect or leak.
8. Your choices and rights
- Advertising ID: you can reset or delete it in Android Settings › Privacy › Ads. Firebase Analytics also uses its own app-instance ID, so this alone does not stop analytics.
- Delete everything on your phone: delete PDFs in the app, or uninstall SnapPDF to remove drafts and app data.
- Access, correction and erasure: email us your Support ID (You › Support in the app). We will delete what our providers’ tools let us find, and tell you when the rest expires under section 7.
- Withdraw consent at any time by uninstalling the app; data already collected is deleted on request as above.
- Nominate a person to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to act.
- Complain to us (section 11). If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
9. Children
SnapPDF is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change is important, such as a new kind of data, we will also tell you in the app before it applies.
